HS2 updates from Camden Council

01/07/2020

Local residents raised concerns about HS2 works restarting and the increased noise and dust at a time when the Government has asked people to stay at home. In response, Councillor Danny Beales has written to HS2's CEO Mark Thurston to ask HS2 do everything possible to reduce the impact of construction at this challenging time. You can read the letter here.

Camden council has also said they will defend their position following an appeal by HS2 Ltd. to the Secretary of State against its refusal to determine HS2's application for lorry routes. The Council is objecting to the use of Camden High Street and wants tighter control over the use of local roads in the Regents Park Estate.

"Both HS2 worksites are located in the heart of our communities. The lorries accessing the site have the potential to cause great harm to the lives of those communities and impact highway safety. It is our responsibility to help ensure that the impact of that construction traffic is minimised and all residents are kept as safe as possible."
- Councillor Danny Beales, Cabinet Member for Investing in Communities and an Inclusive Economy.
