Four years on from the Grenfell Tower tragedy

Four years ago today, the fire at Grenfell tower claimed the lives of 72 people. The shock and grief from this tragedy continues to be felt today. On this devastating fourth anniversary, we remember and honour those who lost their lives and are thinking of their loved ones, those who survived the fire and the brave people who helped on the evening of 14 June 2017.

At Origin, we have continuously prioritised fire safety and wanted to let you know about the work we have done to make sure that our residents feel safe in their homes. During 2020/21, we:

• continued to invest heavily in the safety of our existing homes, spending £6.1m on fire safety, showing our ongoing commitment to providing residents with safe homes.

• have completed 203 in depth fire risk assessments and have completed on a £2.5m door replacement programme to replace 1,079 doors. 
   

In 2021/22, we will continue with our fire safety programme, investing £11.5m on our existing homes, covering:

• Work to meet new fire and building safety legislation

• Exterior Wall system investigations (prioritised by risk)

• Programmed remedial works to our buildings

• Fire risk assessment actions

• Fire Door installation programme and door servicing

• Inspection and servicing of fire protection measures
