Employment & training service turned the tide for an unemployed resident

News

|

Juvan was referred to the service in March 2022 by his Supported Housing Officer. He had recently lost his job and needed help identifying suitable job roles, and developing new skills and experience required support mapping out his medium to longer-term goals around a change of career. Juvan was also completing online applications and Jobsearch activities without a reliable laptop.

Juvan successfully applied for a Chromebook through the Digital Inclusion Scheme and received ongoing support getting job-ready - armed with a redesigned CV and a strong cover letter to present to employers. He was shown how to source suitable roles online by applying to jobs that matched his current skill set and work experience. Through this support, Juvan immediately began to see results in the number of invitations he received to attend job interviews.

Juvan was assisted with job preparation and shown effective techniques to use at interviews. This direct intervention was an outstanding success as it wasn’t long before Juvan was offered two full-time permanent roles. It’s great to have choices! In April 2022, Juvan began working as a Customer Service Advisor and is delighted that he has gained stability and purpose in his new role - he can now focus on the future by setting a foundation to achieve his longer-term career goals.

Quote from Juvan:

“During my time using the service I was provided with the necessary tools and information to be able to apply for jobs with confidence and to have guidelines set in place. I want to say a massive thank you to the team and those that helped me along the way. I was able to find a new role with a company and I was able to gain the confidence to achieve my goals"
