Ian Hamilton was the key architect for St Pancras House Improvement Society. Father Jellicoe got him on board to help tackle the slums by turning the houses into flats. He designed Sidney Street Estate and worked with the sculptor Gilbert Bayes on the colourful ceramic decorative features of the estate. Ian also designed some commercial properties such as St Christopher’s Nursery School.
When he was designing housing, he created gardens and open spaces wherever he could.
After Ian’s death in 1971, Ian Hamilton House was opened on the 11 April 1973 by Mrs Hamilton.
