Black Lives Matter

We at Origin acknowledge the justifiably deep hurt, anger and outrage felt by the Black community worldwide following the recent brutal murder of yet another unarmed Black man – George Floyd - at the hands of a White police officer in the USA. This has sparked protests in the US, UK and elsewhere in the world in response to this latest very visible symptom of deep, systemic, historic and ongoing racial hatred, injustice and discrimination through the generations.
We stand together with you all in condemning racism and ensuring that within Origin we think, speak and act in a way that demonstrates our awareness of both institutional and individual racism in the UK and our determination to overcome it. We know that diversity brings strength, success and resilience and we will work to ensure our workplaces and communities are places where everybody belongs and everybody matters.
During this year we will be developing a new Equality and Diversity Strategy – addressing all forms of unfair discrimination - and will want to involve people across Origin, our residents and stakeholders in having a say in what we plan to do.
